Welcome
The Officers and Board of Directors of the Coffee County Humane
Society welcome you to our website.
Our Mission
Our mission is to prevent suffering, neglect, abuse, and cruelty to animals. Specifically, we deal with three animal types and their offspring: cats, dogs, and horses.
Our 501(c)(3) Status
We are a non-profit 501 (c)(3)
organization and donations to us are tax exempt to the full extent
of the law. We receive no city or county funding and are dependent
on grants and donations to provide our services. We are not a
member of the Humane Society of the United States or PETA. We welcome new
members and meet the last Tuesday of the month at 6:30pm at the
Coffee County Administrative Plaza Building. Our mailing address
is: Coffee County Humane Society, PO Box 252, Manchester, TN 37349.
More information may be obtained by calling 931-728-0903.
Our Five Main Programs
Click on numbered line (open/close) for more explanation.
1) Spay/Neuter and vet care assistance for low income families
Pet overpopulation is a top concern. CCHS educates pet owners
on the importance of spay/neuter; offers financial help for pet sterilization to low
income families; spays/neuters pets prior to re-homing. Veterinarians are
compensated and their support makes this program possible.
2) Foster homes for dogs, cats, and horses and adoption services
We often
have over 40 animals in foster care awaiting adoption. CCHS fosters dogs, cats and horses and pays the expenses.
Foster and adoptive families are needed; please call if you are interested.
3) Cooperative Adoption Program with the Coffee County and Manchester Dog Shelters
CCHS holds adoptions for the Manchester and Coffee County Shelters on the 3rd Saturday, April through October. Look for our signs!
4) Emergency Food for Low-income families (qualification required)
Food for dogs, cats and horses is needed and may be brought to meetings or CCHS will pick up.
CCHS provides pet food to families through Good Samaritan, Sr. Citizens Meals on Wheels and South Central Human Resources.
Families in emergency situations are helped directly as supplies allow.
5) Education and Outreach to schools and the community
The CCHS is available to speak to school and community groups about our organization and its programs,
as well as humane treatment of animals and responsible pet care and ownership.
