Volunteer

Membership in the Coffee County Humane Society offers many opportunities to become involved depending on your interests and available time. We are an all volunteer organization. We have several standing committees:
Dogs,
Cats,
Horses,
Petfood Distribution,
Fundraising/Event Planning,
Publicity/Marketing,
Grant Writing,
Newsletter,
Education,
Neglect Investigations,

and more. All of these welcome volunteers to help with their work.

Here are some examples of volunteer activities:

A Dog Committee member might

  • engage in helping with dogs at adoption events,
  • provide transportation of a foster dog to a vet appointment,
  • assist a foster family with dog training, or bathe a dog to prepare it for adoption.

An Education Committee member might

  • help present a program to a school class or civic group,
  • prepare an informative article on some aspect of petcare or humane animal treatment,
  • return a phone call to someone asking for advice on a specific pet problem.

A Fund Raising Committee member might

  • brainstorm new ideas for fund raising,
  • help set-up and /or man the CCHS booth at a special event,
  • send out donation letters to a mailing list, make a prize for a donation contest.

A Petfood Committee member might

  • deliver petfood to a family in need,
  • organize a petfood donation drive,
  • or
  • divide large bags of food into smaller bags for distribution.
  • In other words, there are countless opportunities to help, both in big and small ways, and all are important.

Each committee has a Coordinator to train, explain, and assist. Whether your interest is hands on with the animals, behind the scenes with preparatory or administrative work, meeting the public to solicit donations or educate on animal issues, working with children to teach animal care, helping with animal transportation, mailing appointment letters for spay/neuter clinics, returning phone calls from our automated voice mailbox………we have a place for you! Come join us and get involved. The animals of Coffee County need your help and you will make new friends, both two legged and four legged!

Please call us for more information and come to our monthly meeting and meet us! We are a welcoming group and are actively seeking new members and volunteers.
